What’s New In Dentures

Because your smile is one of the first things people notice about you, if you aren’t smiling, you aren’t making important personal connections. Your teeth can be a great self-confidence booster…or a self-esteem deflater. For these reasons, dealing with decayed or missing teeth can be daunting. A time-tested treatment for missing teeth is dentures, also known as false teeth. Replacing badly decayed or missing teeth will help improve your appearance and smile. Without dental support, your facial muscles sag, making you look older. Dentures can also help you speak and eat more comfortably.

With today’s new procedures and the expertise of Dr. Winter, dentures can open the door to a whole new life.

pink-scarf-Small50-209x300-209x300 As replacements for missing teeth, dentures can be taken out and put back into your mouth – for ease in cleaning and at night, if you desire. Although they take some getting used to, today’s dentures are natural looking and more comfortable than ever. Your new dentures may feel a bit awkward for the first few weeks and eating and speaking may take a little practice while the muscles of your cheeks and tongue learn how to hold your dentures in place.

There are two main types of dentures: full and partial. Dr. Winter also offers Fixed Dentures which make use of dental implants. Depending on your particular needs, Dr. Winter will help you choose the type of denture that’s best for you.

  • A partial denture rests on a metal framework that attaches to your natural teeth. Crowns are placed on some of your natural teeth and serve as anchors for the denture. Partial dentures offer a removable alternative to bridges.
  • With full dentures, a natural-looking, flesh-colored acrylic base fits over your gums. The base of the upper denture covers the the roof of your mouth. The lower denture is shaped like a horseshoe to accommodate your tongue.

Your dentures will be custom-made by highly skilled technicians, using the finest materials available, guided by impressions taken of your mouth. Our goal is to achieve the most aesthetically and pleasing look possible for you.
